Losi 5ive-T Review – Best Gas RC Car?
The Losi 5ive-T Review
Man oh man, is this truck big! And big usually comes with a high price tag where Losi 5ive-T doesn’t disappoint. It’s currently around $1,599 and it’s quite high considering other gas powered rc cars available on the market, but when’s the last time your face hurt from your smile? Continue reading The Losi 5ive-T Review and I’ll try to convince you that it’s a great peace of engineering.
First things first, some numbers of the Losi 5ive-T. Weight of the truck is 35 pounds or 16 kg, the top speed is around 30 mph or 50 km/h and with full fuel tank you can drive up to 45 minutes. Losi 5ive-T is a gas powered car not nitro, this means it’s going to be cheaper in the long run rather than a nitro car. A gallon of gas would translate in to 4 hours of run time.
The Losi 5ive-T handles absolutely magnificent out on lose tracks and environment not to mention high grass and knee-high bushes, the Losi 5t handles it all and keeps on driving. If you have ever driven a 1/5 scale car you’ll surely be wowed by the handling of the 5ive T, because of the Losi’s 4 wheel drive system. There are no spin outs whatsoever, just pure traction.
If you have any doubts about the 26 cc gas engine or it’s power, you’ll quickly forget about them after 1 minute of ripping dirt with it. The engine slightly sounds like a chainsaw engine, that’s because it’s pretty much it. Chainsaws and other garden tools use these kind of engines.
So what’s it’s like driving a Losi 5ive-T?
It’s like everything you think plus a little bit more. Go on youtube and check out how is this car performing as words can’t really describe the feeling.
Each time the car passed by me I smiled from the loud engine noise, the dust that comes out from wheel spin and overall looks of the car + you get some attention from other people as they have never seen anything like that.
One thing I should mention is that on videos the Losi 5T looks slow compared to an 1/10 or 1/8 scale rc car, don’t be fooled, this is because it’s quite larger than other rc cars and the bigger the object is the slower it looks like. The Losi 5T easily outperforms almost any 1/8 scale car.
I’ve read that a lot of guys on forums complain about the price of The Losi 5ive T. Go on and take a 1/8 scale rc car and make a list of everything that is needed to complete it. Soon you’ll see that the 1/8 scale rc car price will clime to almost the Losi 5t price and consider the fact that you get 11 minutes with the nitro and 45 minutes with gas. Like I said in the beginning of this Losi 5ive-T Review, gas powered remote control cars are cheaper in the long run.
Losi 5ive T for sale can be found on amazon and other big brand rc hobby shops.
Sure the high price is a big turn down, but after driving the Five T I’m left with a conclusion. Do other vehicles provide everything the Losi 5T provides in one package? I don’t think so, at least not nitros. I’m not bashing nitro rc cars, but they do require more maintenance work and investments like spark plugs and expensive nitro fuel. I’m very satisfied with this Gasoline Powered RC Car and there’s nothing like 5ive T on the market.
