How to Sync an RC Car Remote: Reconnect and Fix Lost Signal
To sync an RC car remote, switch the remote on first, then the car. If they still don’t connect, re-bind them: put the car’s receiver into bind (link) mode with its button, put the remote into bind mode, and wait for a solid light. Traxxas TQi radios (Revo 3.3, X-Maxx, Slash) use the SET button on the remote and the LINK button on the receiver. Quick fix: check these first
- Batteries: fresh AA cells in the remote, a charged pack in the car. A weak remote often lights up but won’t hold a link.
- Power order: remote on first, then the car. Car off first, then the remote.
- Throttle trim and switches: centred trim; on Traxxas, the remote’s switch fully on.
- Distance: try within a metre; move away from Wi-Fi routers and other cars binding at the same time.
- Light codes: a blinking receiver LED usually means “no signal” or “bind mode”; solid means linked. Check your manual.
If that doesn’t help, the remote and receiver have lost their pairing and need to be re-bound.

Why won’t my remote sync?

Can two cars use the same type of remote?
Yes. With 2.4 GHz each receiver is bound to one transmitter’s ID, so several identical cars can drive together without interfering. Computer radios store several models; on Traxxas TQi radios each model can be linked in model memory. Old 27/49 MHz toys can interfere if they share a frequency, which is why they come in A/B channels.
