Flytec Bait Boats: GPS Models, Hoppers, Range and Tips

RC Boats

Flytec makes RC bait boats that carry bait (and sometimes the line) out to a chosen spot and drop it, letting anglers place bait accurately far from the bank. A popular model, the Flytec V020, has three independently released hoppers carrying about 2 kg in total, a claimed 500 m range, GPS (Beidou/GPS) with up to 40 saved points and automatic cruise, auto-return on low battery or signal loss, front lights for night fishing, and battery options of 5200 or 12000 mAh. Earlier models such as the V500 are also common.

How bait boats work

You load bait (and often hook the rig to a release clip), steer the boat to your spot or let GPS take it there, and release the hoppers or line. The boat then returns. GPS models remember productive spots so you can return to them precisely. Lights help you see the boat at dawn and dusk.

Rules

Many fisheries and some countries restrict or ban bait boats, and match fishing often prohibits them. Always check the venue’s rules before using one. Respect other anglers’ swims and lines, and avoid wildlife. Finding suitable water is discussed in RC boat lakes near me.

Using a bait boat

  1. Charge batteries fully and check hopper doors work.
  2. Start with short trips to learn handling and range.
  3. Save GPS points for good spots.
  4. Load evenly so the boat sits level.
  5. Watch the wind; it pushes light boats off course.
  6. Keep the boat in sight; signal and video can drop at distance.

Choosing a model

  • Hopper count and capacity for your bait style.
  • GPS and auto-return for long-range fishing.
  • Battery capacity for long sessions.
  • Night lights if you fish early or late.
  • Spare parts and support availability.

Care

Rinse after use, especially in dirty or salty water, dry the hopper mechanisms and battery bay, and store batteries charged as the manual advises. Check propellers for weed and line. General lake-boat advice is in best RC boat for a lake.

Fish finders and cameras

Some bait boats, including models in Flytec’s range, can carry or include fish finders or cameras that show depth and fish on a screen. These help find features like drop-offs and weed beds. Check what your model supports before buying extra equipment, and remember extra devices use battery power.

Batteries

Bait boats run long sessions, so battery capacity matters. Larger packs mean longer fishing without recharging, but add weight. Charge batteries fully before each session, store them properly, and carry a spare for long days.

Safety on the water

Never wade or swim after a stuck bait boat. Use the auto-return function, wait for wind to bring it in, or use a retrieval line. Keep away from swimmers, other boats and wildlife, and don’t run the boat over other anglers’ lines.
