Heewing F-01: The 690 mm EPP FPV Flying Wing Explained

RC Airplanes

The Heewing F-01 is a small FPV flying wing (delta wing) with a 690 mm span made of EPP foam with carbon reinforcement. The bare airframe weighs about 190 g and flies at 350–850 g depending on equipment. It uses a 2205-size motor (FX-2205 2350KV) on 2S–4S and is sold as a kit, PNP and PNP Pro (with flight controller), and is designed to take digital FPV systems such as the DJI air units.

From Heewing and dealer listings, checked October 2026. The maker also claims top speeds over 220 km/h, a minimum speed under 27 km/h, endurance over 70 minutes and range over 45 km; these are best-case figures with specific setups, not typical flights.

What it’s good at

  • Small and tough: EPP bends rather than breaks; easy to carry in a backpack.
  • Wide speed range: slow enough for hand launch, fast with 4S.
  • FPV-ready: designed around a camera and video transmitter, including DJI digital units.
  • Efficient: a light wing with a modest battery can fly long cruising flights.
  • Vertical take-off design: the wingtips allow it to stand on its tail for take-off.

Which version

Kit: airframe only; for builders with their own electronics. PNP: motor, ESC and servos installed; add receiver, battery and FPV gear. PNP Pro / with flight controller: includes a flight controller for stabilisation and GPS-based modes (with a GPS module), which most new FPV wing pilots should choose.

Setup tips

  1. Set the centre of gravity exactly as the manual states; wings are sensitive to CG.
  2. Check elevon direction: both up for pitch up, opposite for roll.
  3. Start with moderate throws and some expo.
  4. Configure failsafe to return-to-home (with GPS) or a gentle circle descent.
  5. Range-test the control link and video before longer flights.

Flying and range

Launch with a firm throw slightly upward at part-to-full throttle. FPV flying in many countries requires a spotter, and flying beyond visual line of sight is generally not permitted for hobby pilots. Long-range claims depend on rules as much as on the plane: see how far an RC plane can fly. Check registration rules too; weight with FPV gear may exceed 250 g.

Why EPP

EPP foam survives hard landings and tree strikes that would crack EPO, which matters for a wing that’s often belly-landed in fields. The trade-off is a rougher surface and more flex, which the carbon spars counter. Foam choices are compared in best foam for RC planes.

What else you need

Besides the PNP plane you need a receiver for your radio (ExpressLRS and similar long-range links are popular), a LiPo or Li-ion pack that fits the battery bay, and FPV gear: a camera, video transmitter and goggles, or a DJI-style digital unit with matching goggles. A GPS module adds return-to-home with a supported flight controller. Budget for spare props and a second battery; most pilots carry two or three packs per session. Weigh the finished plane, since that decides which registration rules apply.

FAQ

What battery does the Heewing F-01 use?

2S–4S LiPo or Li-ion, chosen by speed and flight time.

Is it good for beginners?

For FPV newcomers with a stabilised flight controller and some line-of-sight experience.

Can it carry a DJI air unit?

Yes, it’s designed for digital FPV systems.

Is it a helicopter?

No, it’s a fixed-wing flying wing.
