Feilun FT011: Specs, Setup and Tips for the Brushless RC Racing Boat

RC Drones

The Feilun FT011 is a budget 65 cm brushless RC racing boat on 2.4 GHz. Sellers list it at up to about 50–55 km/h, with a 14.8 V 2200 mAh battery, a water-cooling system that pulls water in at the rudder and out of the side, and a self-righting function after flips. Run time is about 7–9 minutes at high speed. It’s a popular step up from toy boats, with the trade-offs you’d expect at its price: basic electronics, limited waterproofing and parts mostly from online sellers.

From seller listings and published reviews, checked October 2026. Speeds are claims; real speed depends on water and battery.

Before the first run

  1. Charge the battery with the supplied charger; never leave it unattended.
  2. Check the hatch seal and lock it properly; this is where water gets in.
  3. Make sure the water cooling pickup and outlet are clear.
  4. Check the propeller is tight and undamaged.
  5. Test the controls on land briefly (seconds only, since the motor cools with water).
  6. Switch on the remote first, then the boat.

Running tips

Run on calm water at first; in waves a 65 cm deep-V boat bounces and can flip. If it flips, use the self-righting function as described in the manual (usually by running the motor in a set way). Keep runs within range, and come back when the boat slows: the low-voltage cutoff stops the motor, and a stalled boat must drift back. More on choosing lake boats in best RC boat for a lake.

Care after running

  • Open the hatch, dry the inside and leave it open to air.
  • Remove and dry the battery; store it at storage voltage.
  • Pull out and grease the flex shaft regularly.
  • Flush the cooling line with fresh water after dirty water.
  • Check the hatch seal for cracks.

Common problems

  • Water inside: hatch not locked or seal worn; add tape around the hatch as a fix.
  • Motor stutters or stops: low battery, water in the electronics, or weed on the prop.
  • Won’t turn well: rudder linkage loose or servo weak.
  • Short run time: ageing battery; buy a compatible spare.
  • Overheating: cooling line blocked; clean the intake.

Alternatives

If you want more reliable electronics and a parts supply in local shops, brands like Pro Boat cost more but are better supported. For other budget boats, see cheap and fast RC boats. The FT011 is a fun, fast boat for the price as long as you look after the seals and electronics.

Safety

At 50 km/h, the boat can hurt swimmers and wildlife. Run only where allowed, away from people and animals, and keep clear of anglers’ lines. Bring a retrieval line or wait for wind to bring a stalled boat back; don’t swim after it.

Battery tips

The FT011’s high-voltage pack powers a fast brushless system, so it works hard. Let the battery cool before recharging, use the supplied or a proper balance charger, and stop running as soon as the boat slows down rather than draining it completely. A second battery doubles the fun per session, but buy one with the same voltage, connector and size so it fits the hull and doesn’t overload the ESC. Swollen or damaged packs must be retired safely.
